Mantis Collection Opens First Saudi Resort, a Mountain Retreat in Al Baha

Mantis Collection has opened Gamra Mountain Resort by Mantis in the southwestern highlands of Al Baha, marking Accor’s conservation-focused brand’s debut in Saudi Arabia. Set at approximately 2,260 metres above sea level on Khairah Mountain, the 22,000 square metre resort comprises 30 tented Mountain Suites with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the surrounding landscape, alongside a 14-attraction adventure park scheduled to open shortly. The property was developed by ASFAR, a wholly owned Public Investment Fund company focused on tourism investment across the Kingdom’s secondary destinations.
Craig Erasmus, CEO of Mantis Collection, said Al Baha’s temperate climate, mountain landscapes and rich heritage are unlike anywhere else in Saudi Arabia. Mishari bin Abdullah Al-Nahari, CEO of ASFAR, said the resort reflects the destination’s strong foundation for investment in distinctive tourism offerings. Al Baha, known as the Garden of the Hijaz, is characterised by cooler temperatures, more than 100 forests, and terraced farmland producing apricots and pomegranates.
